Guided by Faith: Faith Plans Renewing People and Planet

On this, the final day of the Stockholm+50 international summit, FaithInvest, alongside our partners The Focolare and the Brahma Kumaris, hosted a live evening event at 19:00 in Stockholm that celebrated the work of faiths leading the way on restoring right relationships with each other and with our planet. This event featured the Faith Plans, an initiative by FaithInvest. The Faith Plans is a global, multi-faith programme that supports communities and organisation, representing the world's major faith traditions, to use their faith as a catalyst to align their assets, resources and wisdom to ensure a safe future for all. This in-person event was also live-streamed on Zoom from Stockholm.

Workshop: Faith Plans turning commitment into action
A practical workshop on how to create a Faith Plan

FaithInvest, together with our partner LM International, hosted a workshop on how faith actors can develop long-term environmental action plans. The workshop featured the Faith Plans initiative which mobilises faith communities and organisations to create long-term action plans. The workshop also explored the relevance of Faith Plans to local resilience, capacity building, and a rights-based approach to faith-led environmental response during this decade of action. It drew on case studies and examples of existing faith-initiatives, and encouraged workshop participants to create a vision for their faith-community, explore how to get there, and identify what support might be needed throughout their Faith Plans journey.

Dr Lorna Gold, Director of Movement Building at FaithInvest, spoke at the English National Cathedrals Conference, a four-day event where key players from English Cathedrals gather to draw breath on recent global and national change, and exchange wisdom on the challenges and opportunities facing churches and society. Her speech was entitled: 'Havens of Hope: Re-imagining Cathedrals in a World of Climate Injustice'.

As part of Humanity Rising's Global Solutions Summit, Jim Garrison, President of Ubiquity University, hosted a conversation with Fr Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam and FaithInvest Founding President Martin Palmer, who were integral to the formation and writing of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si', which calls for greater ecological awareness and action among the faithful.
